Becoming a parent is a life-changing event. It’s a role that requires a number of skills such as being prepared at all times, having presence of mind, and mastering control over impulses and emotions. Parenthood in itself is tough, but single parenthood comes with a whole different set of challenges. Since this is a prevalent issue in the Caribbean, it is crucial to implement programs that will raise awareness, educate the youth, empower them through skills development, and build effective support networks for single parents.
This thought fuelled Range Developments‘ motivation to team up with Holistic Outreach for Parents’ Empowerment (H.O.P.E) right from its launch last year. We have cooperated together on multiple projects targeted at supporting single parents by working closely with communities all over the island.
We are now proud to announce that our cooperation has transformed into an alliance that will launch a series of programs throughout 2022 to benefit single parents and the youth. These programs will address the various aspects of single parenthood, giving them the fundamental tools to find their way towards a better future while making sound decisions.
The first program, ‘Light Your Candle’, will be organized in January 2022. It will offer emotional support, parenting guidance, financial advice, spiritual care, and health awareness. Through this initiative, we plan to empower single parents and the youth through personal development, education and entrepreneurship. After all, when the parents are strong, the children grow up strong too, building a happier, more abundant community.
