Light a Candle, Change a Life

Who We Are

Holistic Outreach for Parent’s Empowerment (H.O.P.E) is a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting single parents and their children. H.O.P.E is created to bridge a gap in single parents’ access to self-development and empowerment tools and opportunities. We aim to create a safe space where the needs of our single parents can be met.

Meet Our Team

Verlanda Bruney

Verlanda Bethelmy Bruney

Founder & CEO

I am Verlanda Bethelmy Bruney, you can call me Vee. I am a good listener and a deep thinker. I pride myself on being honest even if it goes against me and I am typically the quietest person in the room but if it’s a good joke, that’s no longer true.

I’ve worked for myself for most of my life and have trained with a variety of organizations and groups (women’s safe space, children with disabilities, psychological and trauma support training, senior care training group, etc.) that have allowed me to meet new people, support great causes, and gain valuable knowledge.

It planted a seed in my heart, which, when combined with my profound desire to serve people and my unique life experiences, blossomed into H.O.P.E.

Yves Joseph

Yves Joseph

Senior Director & Project Manager

My name is Yves Joseph, and I’m a God-fearing man with a desire to serve people. I strive for excellence in everything I do, and I am honored to be a member of such a wonderful organization (H.O.P.E), whose objective is in line with my God-given mission on this earth. By profession, I am an agronomist, and just like my plants, I yearn to see people develop into their full potential.

Shalma Joseph

Treasurer

My name is Shalma Joseph, and I am privileged to serve as H.O.P.E Dominica’s treasurer. I am a simple, average, down-to-earth person who loves God and the things of God. I have a degree in accounting and finance and have been employed as a loans officer at a financial institution for the past 15 years. I have a soft spot in my heart for persons in need, which prompted me to embrace the opportunity of joining H.O.P.E, where lives will be impacted for God’s glory.

Leah Honoré

Secretary

Hi, my name is Leah Honoré, you can call me Lee. I am a calm person; a great listener and I enjoy deep meaningful conversations. I can easily spend my day doing something creative with my hands, whether face painting, journaling, sewing, or photography, which can at times make me introverted. However, my compassionate heart for assisting others (which God has given me) combined with my psychology degree motivates me to champion the cause of others. I’m honored and thrilled to be a member of the H.O.P.E. team, and I’m looking forward to being an instrument through which I may provide hope to others while also completing my part in God’s plan.

One of my favorite quotes is:

“People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care”

Theodore Roosevelt

Our Vision

H.O.P.E sees a sacred candle in every single parent that yearns to be rekindled.

Our Mission

Our vision is to nurture, empower and transform the lives of single parents and their children through soul-searching counselling sessions, parenting and self-care activities, educational and skill-training workshops, outreach campaigns and other activities that are necessary to build a solid family foundation.

Our Goals

Hope aspires to be a lighthouse for single parents. We promote the path to Holistic support where our single parents can rekindle their fire, illuminate their homes and in turn our nation.
